The Kansas City Royals (baseball for my international readers) have been catching hell because 10 of their players are unvaccinated, and therefore because of mandates in place in Canada, cannot play in current games in Toronto against the Blue Jays.
Their star player, Whit Merrifield, has received extra criticism for the quote you see in the screenshot above. The organization made sure to profusely apologize for his comment, despite it being 100% true.
Here is the official data from Ontario, Canada on case rates among the fully vaccinated & unvaccinated in Ontario, Canada. Of course, they stopped reporting by vaccination status just after it was clear the fully vaccinated were getting COVID at higher rates than the unvaccinated (coincidence I’m sure!).
Whit and his nine teammates who decided not to be injected with an emergency use drug are being called selfish and worse. The fact that anyone can be blaming the players, instead of the obviously stupid and immoral laws of Canada…. ugh, I’m a calm, measured person, but this infuriates me.
"if the vaccine stops transmission and infection, why is it not stopping transmission and infection?" To paraphrase the movie Moneyball
The immoral laws do go both ways. The US also does not allow unvaccinated Canadians into their country
