I read Alex Berenson’s post today regarding adverse events in Moderna trials with great interest & began looking into the data at the clinical trials website that he references. Go read that post now if you haven’t already.
Spending a few minutes on that website and looking at the results of that trial, I decided to see if there were other studies with results that might provide additional information on this topic. Using search criteria to find completed trials, with results, involving the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, I stumbled across a study that investigates using the Moderna vaccine in conjunction with a flu vaccine. The study uses 3 groups of ~100 people each. The 1st group is administered a combined flu & Moderna COVID vaccine, the 2nd group is given only the flu vaccine, and the 3rd group is given only the Moderna COVID vaccine:
In terms of serious adverse events, we have the following:
So, of the folks who received some of the Moderna vax, 5 out of 204 had a serious adverse event, while 0 of the 92 flu vaccine only recipients had a serious adverse event. Not great.
So I assume the flu vaccine was a traditional platform and not an mRNA lnp platform.
Yikes. 5 out of 204 had adverse events during the study period. And God knows how many will have adverse events within the next year.
